Ethical, High-Quality Pork – From Our Farm to Your Freezer

At Long Name Farm, we believe in full transparency—from how our pigs are raised to how they’re priced, processed, and delivered. We’re proud to offer premium, ethically raised pork that reflects our commitment to animal welfare, sustainable farming, and exceptional taste.

How It Works – Order, Butcher, Deliver

  • Pigs are processed every fortnight
  • All bulk orders are frozen and vacuum packed
  • Free delivery in Southern Tasmania within the following fortnight (unless otherwise advised)
  • Northern Tasmania delivery may be arranged based on volume
  • SRT Depot pickup if preferred
  • Why Our Pricing Reflects Quality and Honesty

We’ve updated our pricing model to eliminate confusion and ensure you only pay for the product you actually receive—not the weight of the whole carcass.
Here’s what that means for you:
  • No hidden loss: In the past, pricing based on carcass weight meant customers paid for inedible parts (bones, fat, trim). Now, you only pay for the trimmed, packaged, and ready-to-use cuts you take home.
  • Fairer pricing: Our butcher trims and refines each cut professionally, so every kilogram you pay for is quality meat, ready for your kitchen.
  • This is our story

Owner Phil, farms rare and heritage breed pigs on Tasmania’s scenic East Coast.
Wessex Saddleback and Berkshire pigs freely roam 44 coastal acres in the picturesque hamlet of Little Swanport.
Our pigs are free to roam, play and grow at their own pace in several large wattle paddocks. Their foraged feed is supplemented with a nutritional mix of barley, wheat, lupins, protein meal, vitamins, minerals and local Tasman Sea Salt licks.
Our mission is to raise happy pigs and supply ethically-produced, flavoursome free-range pork at affordable rates direct to the public, restaurants and local butchers.

    Our philosophy

At Long Name Farm, we believe in producing flavourful, naturally raised pork at a fair and accessible price.
Our pigs live the way pigs should – in the open air, with space to roam, shelters for protection, shade for comfort, and wallows for wellbeing. We don’t believe in the methods of conventional pig farming. We raise animals with care, not confinement.

    Our name

Long Name Farm recognises the indigenous name for the Little Swanport area. At 37 letters, it is the longest recorded place name in Australia.

    Heritage Breed Excellence

Raise premium-quality heritage pigs known for their superior flavour and ethical farming standards.

In the world of farming, not all pigs are created equal. While commercial breeds dominate industrial farming, heritage breeds are making a well-deserved comeback. These pigs, with their rich history and exceptional qualities, are a testament to the value of traditional farming methods. For Australian farmers, raising heritage pigs isn’t just about producing premium-quality pork
    What Are Heritage Breeds?
Heritage pig breeds are traditional breeds that have been raised for generations, often dating back hundreds of years. Unlike commercial pigs bred for rapid growth and high yields, heritage breeds are prized for their hardiness, adaptability, and superior meat quality.
In Australia, popular heritage breeds include
Berkshires: Known for their marbled meat and rich flavour.
Saddlebacks: Hardy and adaptable, with excellent mothering instincts.
